BBC TV background music

Just heard a discussion about background music in BBC TV programmes. Apparently they are re-engineering Brian Cox's current series on the universe to reduce the level of the music. Good news. Cox said yesterday that he likes the music and in fact he seemed to want more of it. I have to say that my opinion is just the opposite: I'd rather not have it at all, as in David Attenborough's documentaries, but if we must endure it, at least make it quieter. For me, it is merely an irritation. It doesn't add anything useful at all.
