Creationism in UK schools

According to an article in the educational supplemet to today’s Independent, creationism (and its alter ego intelligent design) are making a come-back in British schools. The trend to absurdity seems to be being fostered by the growth in “faith schools”, so beloved of Tony Blair.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the paper, we learn that there is apparently evidence for hybridisation between the ancestors of humans and chimpanzees at about the time of the split between the two lines about 6.3 mya. It’s a strange commentary on our times that both these items should be making the news on the same day.
