Thomas Nagel and the fear of religion

If you’ve read any of the other stuff on this site you will probably have gathered that I think one ought to keep challenging one’s own beliefs and preconceptions. In keeping with this I’ve just added a new article, Thomas Nagel and the fear of religion, which was prompted by an essay in his book “The Last Word”.

Nagel holds that there is a deep-seated fear of religion among and atheists and that this underlies much modern scientism and excessive enthusiasm for evolutionary psychology. I find this an intriguing idea and one that ought to be taken seriously.
