As one grows older ...

I find I read less fiction now than when I was younger, and especially less serious fiction. For interest and pleasure I prefer factual books (science, philosophy, biography). Perhaps it’s partly because when one is young one thinks one will find answers to life’s problems in fiction; later one comes to see that fiction does not provide this, or perhaps there are no answers'
