Microsoft invading higher education

I’m doubtless suffering from paranoia, but I was taken aback to see in today’s Independent that Sheffield Hallam University is collaborating with Microsoft to set up Masters courses - with the aim, obviously, of promoting Microsoft still further in the business community in the UK.

As we know, Tony Blair is also a friend of Bill Gates though I am not suggesting that there is a link with Sheffield. But it is very regrettable that the opportunities offered by the free software movement are still being ignored so often in favour of the expensive and in many respects inferior commercal alternative.
